What to do on Mother’s Day

With Mother’s Day on it’s way, it’s probably about time to start thinking about how you would like to spend the day! If you’re a bit stuck on what to do this year, we’ve come up with a few ways you can spend some quality time with your family this Mother’s Day.

Food

Mother’s Day is one of the busiest days in the restaurant industry, so if you are looking to go out for a nice meal it is best to get booking in advance. If a meal out isn’t your thing, or you feel it’s not the place to take the kids there are plenty of other ways to enjoy a nice meal on Mother’s Day. Breakfast in bed is a Mother’s Day staple but why not make it brunch and let Mum have some extra time in bed. If you’re looking to spend the day out of the house, a picnic is perfect, particularly if you have young or fussy children! It allows you to avoid a busy restaurant and customise the food according to everyone’s requests.

Events

There is a wide selection of events that take place on Mother’s Day across the UK; from woodland walks to craft mornings, there will be something for everyone. Take a look at what’s going on in your local area, it could be the perfect opportunity to try something new whilst making new memories.

Activities

Mother’s Day is all about Mum, so make sure that whatever you choose to do is something she enjoys, this could be a day of family fun or some alone time at a spa! If the weathers nice, maybe try a trip to the beach or a local walking trail. Anything goes, as long as it’s something Mum enjoys!

Preparation

We all know how stressful planning a family day out can be, so don’t let Mum handle any of this stress, make sure you plan ahead to ensure you pack all the essentials and have a smooth journey. If you are going further afield make sure you pack snacks for the car, plan stops should they be needed and make sure everyone is entertained. If you have young children, make sure you have a good travel system to make everything run as smooth as possible.

Gift Ideas

If you’re stuck for gift ideas, homemade ones usually get the best response. A homemade card or gift shows love and thoughtfulness. A great idea for Mum to get some relaxation is homemade coupons for her to redeem as she pleases; one for alone time, one for a cup of tea or a biscuit – the ideas are endless!
