Whilst this will largely depend on the rain cover in question, the method of fitting it securely to pushchairs remains much the same. 

First, you must place the rain cover across the pushchair, ensuring protection across the front, sides, and major portion of the back. Next, attach the cover to your pushchair using the provided straps. These are typically made from elastic or velcro and offer a secure fastening method, so the cover does not lift. It’s best to fix the back of the pushchair first and then the bottom to ensure a secure fit is maintained. 

Raincovers will always contain ventilation, which, for some, is a vent. If this applies to your model, ensure this is open before the child is placed underneath. Finally, you should always check that once your child is securely strapped in, accessories, such as a footmuff, are not left to get in the way of the raincover. Any items impeding the area of coverage could cause the raincover not protecting the child successfully.
