Choosing the right car seat

You have a choice between two regulation types of car seats. The latest regulation is R129 which categorises car seats based on your child's height and goes through more rigorous testing. R44 regulation car seats are still legal and considered safe but they use your child's weight to determine the car seat groups. Car seat groups tell you at what age the seat is suitable for.

Navigating from birth to 12 years old

To start, group 0 car seats are lightweight and often compatible with travel systems. These are usually called infant carriers and are suitable from birth. Other car seat groups include group 0+/1, which is suitable from birth to around 4 years old, or group 2/3 car seat which is ideal from around 3 years old to 12.  If you don't want to change your car seat every time your baby outgrows it, choose a car seat from group 0+/1/2/3 that adjusts with your child, taking them from birth all the way up to 12 years old. Whichever car seat you choose, always make sure you check the safety requirements.

Rear-facing and side impact features

Thanks to advancements in research and technology, there are more child car seat safety features than ever to pick from! Children under the age of 15 months must sit in rear-facing car seats for maximum protection, whilst enhancements in side impact protection keep little ones shielded from every angle.
