What your baby sleeps in will be the most important consideration you will make when choosing furniture – so will likely be the first step. When you bring your little one home for the first time, we advise that they sleep in either a Moses basket or bedside crib. Many parents choose to use both, which is perfectly acceptable, but we would suggest limiting the different sleeping products as this can be disruptive to their sleeping pattern. From a Moses basket or crib, your baby will then transition to a cot or cot bed around 6 months old – or when they can hold their head up if that happens first. It is important to transition babies slowly to a cot – letting them spend some time in there before they transition fully.
All advice and information regarding the safety of baby sleeping products is in place to avoid SIDS and improve the sleep quality of babies.
Cots and cot beds are suitable from birth but we would recommend waiting until 6 months for safety purposes.
