Fun outdoor activities

Garden picnic

Almost every toddler loves teddy picnics. Even better, you can do them from the comfort of your own home. Given the current situation, you can still get friends and family involved on Zoom or Skype. So, even Grams and Gramps can get stuck in!

Go bubble-crazy

Soapy circles floating in the air will have your tot entertained for hours on end. Not only is it fun to watch, but it’ll also support their sensory development. Bubbles popping on their tiny fingertips, will be a new, exciting buzz. Have a camera ready because bubble-play will definitely set off their giggles!

Introduce them to nature

Take your baby on a walk in the woods, local park or wherever nature is. Show them all the wonderful sights and sounds! Providing it’s safe, let your tot reach out and touch things. Hand them dry leaves to crunch. Or, put fragrant petals near their nose. Talk them through all the new things they’re seeing, like the quacking ducks and buzzing bees. The animal world will be a new, exciting experience.

Water fun

Aquatic adventures will be sure to excite your little one. Once your baby becomes a toddler – a trip to the seaside is a must! You can go on the hunt for seashells and build sandcastles. If you can’t get to the beach, bring the beach to you. Pop a few trays of water in the garden and let your tot splash about, to their hearts content!

What accessories will I need?

There’s nothing more frustrating than running back and forth, to grab things you’ve forgotten! So, we’ve done the hard work for you and compiled a list of all the essentials.

  • Good walking shoes
  • Extra socks
  • Toys
  • Sipper cups
  • Sunhat
  • Sunscreen (6+ months)
  • Snacks
  • Plenty of water
  • Hoodie
  • Towel to pat your baby down
  • A clip-on stroller fan
  • Changing mat
  • Nappies and wipes

There are pushchair accessories which will prove indispensable when it comes to outdoor trips. They are the things you don’t even realise you need. However, often they turn out to be the best buys!

Stroller cup holder

Clip one of these onto your buggy handle and it’ll provide you with a safe place to keep your tot’s bottle. If you’re lucky enough to get those warmer Spring days, your baby will need lots of water. So, having a cup holder at hand is essential!

Pushchair organiser

Ditch the changing bag on a warm day and get yourself a pushchair organiser! It’s the perfect size to pop essentials in like wipes, nappies and snacks.

Hanging buggy toy

Keeping a baby entertained can be a task and a half. Attach a fun, spiral toy around the pram handle, to keep your tot entertained. You’ll be surprised how content they’ll be, grabbing and chewing on it! The Tiny Love dangling toy will excite your tot and stimulate all their senses.

Getting the Right Outdoor Pushchair

When you’re venturing outside, your stroller is likely to be pushed over different types of surfaces. So, you may want to consider an all-terrain pushchair. It’s a fantastic option, to keep your tot comfortable and secure on adventures. Our Chicco Multiride Stroller is equipped with everything needed, to tackle those bumpy roads! If you want to explore different pushchairs available, have a look through our pushchair collection.

No matter how many perks your pushchair has, there’s still some places those wheels just can’t hack. Baby carriers are ideal for short trips with your tiny explorer. They’re not only ideal for springtime strolls, but the closeness allows for precious bonding.

Dressing your baby in spring

Each season brings a new fashion challenge. Although spring means warmer times, British weather can be unpredictable. When temperatures constantly rise and fall in spring, what should you dress your tot in?

  • Layers

Layers are not only cute but also super practical! Start with a short-sleeved onesie, pop on pants, a long-sleeved t-shirt, and a light hoodie. Finish the look off with some adorable, fluffy socks. Just add or take off clothing, depending on whether the warmth or cold creeps up.

  • Windy and rainy days

Springtime in Britain means you need to look out for those April showers. If you’re not prepared, rain and wind can really put a downer on your baby’s mood and yours. Investing in a cute raincoat will save the day!

  • Hats

Tots lose 75% of their body heat from their head. So, a good hat is essential. In Spring, if it’s a warmer day, just swap to a lovely, cotton sunhat.

We hope we’ve helped you overcome your worries about venturing outside with a little one. With our help, outdoor adventures will always be fun and well-prepared for. It’s amazing how fascinated our children become, with these simple experiences. So, scoop up you’re your little one, head out to play and soak up some Vitamin D!
